Tiffany Williams, Art Curator, Department of State

What inspires your style?

My style is inspired by a mix of masculine and feminine, color and comfort.

Do you feel like you’re in touch with both your masculine and feminine sides?

Yes, I feel very balanced.

As an art curator how do you find good artists?

When I’m looking for art, I like to look for people that really are trying to hone a craft and who are expressing something very personal through their art. Whatever their intimate thoughts are, whatever they’re curious about is coming out in a new way from the work that they make.

What do you think makes “good” art?

Art is so subjective. I would say definitely if the artist believes in it, that’s important.

What’s a fun thing you’ve done in New York City since you’ve been here?

I’ve been here in less than 24 hours. Probably taking this trip up here with my friend to come see the art and we’re doing as much people watching as we are looking at the art.
