Can you describe yourself in one lyric from someone else’s song? “Soul radiation in the dead of night Love in the middle of a fire fight” -Iggy Pop
What is the first memory you have of being introduced to music? Why has it become such an important part of your life? The first memory I have of listening to music was when I was 5 years old, riding my bike around our apartment complex listening to Michael Jackson on my walkman. The memory right after that is listening to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on one of those primary colored Fisher Price cassette players at the beach. Music has always been important to me, it’s one of my closest friends. It’s always there for you and there’s always a track that can empathize with how you’re feeling. I’ve always been in bands growing up and I think music became more important to me after I had a radio show in college. Having access to so much music at the tips of your fingers, literally halls of music, makes you really appreciate it and makes you consider what music you want to put out into the world. Currently, the pandemic has really focused my mind on music.
Who has supported you throughout your music career that you are forever grateful for? My mom has always been supportive of my creative endeavors. It is super important to be positive and supportive to artists in your circle. My grandma was a music teacher, so there was a piano around her house that I would bang around on. I didn’t really know what I was doing- not much has changed. But sometimes that’s how you find a song just by playing around. I’m grateful I was raised in an environment where my creativity was encouraged and not stifled. I think that is one of the worst things you can do for a child’s development.
How would you describe the music you make, is there a particular genre you fit into or is your work more genre bending? I think Dittomaster is close to the Electroclash / Dance Punk genre. A combination of Electronica and Rock / Punk. Main sticking points- it’s got to be loud, energetic and rhythmic.
Do you have any goals for the future, what’s next? This year I’m planning to write, record and release as much music as possible. I’ve got another single “Skies On Fire” releasing August 7th. After that I plan on releasing a song every 4 – 6 weeks if possible. You can follow Dittomaster on Spotify, Soundcloud or anywhere else to be notified about new releases. Thanks for listening, stay tuned! 🙂
