Kate Tova (and Toochi), Artist

 What’s your favorite thing about being an artist?

 The freedom and the community.

 Where are you from originally?

 I was born in Russia and then lived in New Orleans for a while, Now I’m in San Francisco.

What brings you to the Armory show and how would you capture the New York City vibe?

 Endless inspiration.

What’re some fun things you’ve done in NYC since you’ve been here?

I’ve been to a lot of galleries in Chelsea and openings.

What inspires you the most?

I’ve been really into Native American art due to the spirituality and connection to nature and animals.

So you love animals. What’s your dog’s name?

Toochi. I taught her to paint.

There’s actually a pig who paints named “Pigcasso,” Toochi can probably make a lot of money with her art?

Definitely. We made a fundraiser for pet rescue.
