Gina Sam, Doctor

How would you say art influences your style because I love the Louis Vuitton bag with the Monet?

I think it’s very important to remember that in the whole world and the planet there’s so much art around us. There’s beauty in nature; the flowers, the greenery and in the ocean. I grew up in Trinidad and I had a mountainous view.

Do you miss that?

I miss that so much.

So tell me about the charity you have.

It’s for Rena my sister who died in 911 three months pregnant. I’ve encompassed my passion for art, medicine and mental health disorders. It’s called “Green”. Little G is me, “Gina”, big R is “Rena” she was the older one. Rachel is my best friend from Trinidad who died of cancer, big R is for Rebecca, one of my best friends and N is Nichad the son of Rachel who I adopted, and little N is my son.

What’s the goal of the charity?

To help children with developing their minds, prevent abuse in females or males, to protect homosexuals or anybody who is suffering. I sent over 50 school supplies to kids in Saint Lucia.

And how do you incorporate art into your medical practice?

My practice is art, what I wear is art, who I am is art. I feel like you should be able to express yourself and be who you are. I try to express myself with non traditional ideas.
